I get many weird and wonderful property investment opportunities across my desk but a few months ago one especially caught my eye.

It was a new ski development in the Carpathian Mountains of Ukraine. The development was called Eagle Valley situated in a town called Slavkso (also known as Slavsk or Slavske) just 120km south of Lviv in western Ukraine.

The promoters of the development described the development as the first western style luxury apartment complex in the Ukraine but what really made my ears prick up was the prediction that Slavkso would become the new Bansko!

My views on Bansko as a property investment location are well known. It's a beautiful place and makes for a pleasant cheap holiday in both winter and summer but as a property investment location it just doesn't stack up. The market is completely over supplied with thousands of apartments mainly bought by UK and Irish investors who have been ripped off my agents making huge commissions. Many apartments stand empty all year and resales are near impossible.

But what are the similarities between Slavsko and Bansko? Could Slavkso really turn into the next Bansko?
