In the past Romania ranked first in the EU in terms of untaxed income. We have often talked about unofficial wages in Romania, now it's time to take a look at what Romanians earn officially. This is important because it is this official income that is taken into account by banks when a mortgage is applied for.

Double digit growth

The latest ranking of wage increases across the EU compiled by the European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions clearly shows the rapid rise in salaries in CEE countries compared to those in 'old' Europe.
