What is likely to trigger a period of accelerated economic growth is a key motorway that will be built as part of Poland's multi-billion euro preparations to co-host Euro 2012, the second most lucrative soccer tournament in the world.
The A4 motorway - which currently stretches from the German border and goes through Wroclaw, Katowice and Krakow - will be extended from Krakow to Rzeszów, and 90 km beyond to Korczowa on the Ukraine border.
Euro 2012 will have a significant impact on Poland's long-term economic development, mainly through huge infrastructure projects, many of which have been in the pipeline for many years, but without fixed completion dates. Now these will have completion deadlines.
