Profile
Name:
Carl Hills
Age:
47
Location:
Bournemouth
Experience:
Investing in property since 1988
Job:
Business improvement coach and owner of a precision engineering company
Investment philosophy:
I burnt my fingers in Bristol at the peak of the 1988 market when my Georgian house rose 40 per cent in one year. However I ended up selling it at the original purchase price two years later due to very high interest rates. I then renovated a 100-year-old cottage in Bradford and sold it for what I paid for it 11 years later! So my mantra is diversify, diversify, diversify. I have done well in the UK over the last three to four years and now favour overseas.
