I have received an unusually large volume of questions at Landlords' Clinic recently, regarding the contentious issue of supplying personal details to tenants. It seems that landlords (particularly novice investors in the buy-to-let arena) are generally reluctant, for whatever reason, to provide their tenants with details about their address.
This article aims to dispel any uncertainties - and provides new landlords with an overview of their legal obligations on this subject.
Unless otherwise stated, the following information refers only to tenancies of properties in England & Wales. The regulations for Scotland and Northern Ireland are slightly different. A brief explanation of these variances are included at the end of this article.
