As we approach the end of 2007, both government and the opposition have separately announced plans for major reviews of housing provision and investment policy.

These involve the private rented sector, an expansion of housing supply and potential changes to the house-buying conveyancing mechanism.

It is looking like 2008 could be a very interesting (if not exceptional) year of adjustment for property investors.

Housing minister Yvette Cooper announced that Government will conduct a comprehensive strategic review of the private rented sector during 2008, which will be undertaken in conjunction with the Department for Communities and Local Government.
