More and more people are using the courts to get their money back.
You can now do it all on line at
www.hmcourts-service.gov.uk
. But while proving that you have been wronged and are owed money is relatively easy, getting the tenant to pay up is harder, writes David Lawrenson.
The latest figures from the courts service show that in 2005 there were just over one million registered county court (including small claims) judgments.
However, only one fifth of those were settled in the time limit allowed of 4 weeks. The rest needed further enforcement action.
