Turkey happens to be a close neighbour to some of the most politically unstable countries in the world, but, unlike many of its neighbours, Turkey has a strong secular tradition supported by the second largest military in NATO.
Yet these are uncertain times for a country with little prospect of joining the EU in the immediate future.
Recently there were mass demonstrations in the capital protesting against the election of a president with a background in political Islam.
So why would anyone want to invest in a country close to some of the most volatile areas in the world and a political arena still influenced by its powerful army?
