Property Secrets investor and Community member Doug Young sent us the following report from his visit to Prague and Hradec Kralov:
I'm here in Czech Republic for 3 weeks and writing this blog sitting on Petrin hill in Prague enjoying the beautiful view of the city.
While I'm here I will be doing a bit of research into potential property investment locations around Czech and Slovak Republics.
Last week I visited Hradec Kralove and Pardubice in East Bohemia. Property Secrets released a development, White Tower in Hradec a while ago, which I believe is fairly near completion. The location of the development is right next to the main train station, so was the first thing I saw on arrival.
The whole of Riegrovo nam (Riegrovo square) appears to be going through major redevelopment work with most of the buildings having been flattened. At the far side of the square is the White Tower development, with the main structure of the building up already. From here I headed into the new part of town, where at Nam Rijna there is a Tescos and from here the street leads onto the main shopping area.
I arrived in the late morning so perhaps this wasn't the busiest time of day. The contrast with the bustle of Prague struck me. Hradec is much quieter.
Heading further into town leads to the Old Town area complete with winding cobbled streets and picturesque churches. I suspect that Hradec livens up at the weekend as there are plenty of restaurants and shops, although it lacks any big chain stores or fashion stores that you find in larger towns.
