Poland
The availability of finance remains a key factor shaping the current situation in the property market in Poland. Mortgage offers for both locals and non-residents are still limited and banks continue applying careful screening processes for applicants.
This greatly influences the sales market, which, compared to a year ago, has slowed substantially. i-PropertyAssets concluded a few sales in the first half of 2009 in Polish cities, but it is clear that it is now more difficult to find a buyer and apartments generally don't achieve the prices they did 12 months ago.
However, profits can still be made, especially if a seller bought at the beginning of the growth curve and/or is not a distressed seller.
