It's nice when the area you have invested in goes up in value. But in some areas prices can go really crazy as the super-rich descend and turn them into an exclusive enclave, writes David Lawrenson.

How is it that this happened in one London area and how can you spot other areas that are about to do the same thing?

Tony Blair must be kicking himself for selling his property in London's Barnsbury (in the Borough of Islington) when he became Prime Minister.

Since then, the area has become super-gentrified and house prices have soared.
Barnsbury was built in the early 19th century for the mainly upper middle classes and the houses are mostly Georgian or Victorian.

By the middle part of the last century the early residents had mostly moved out as part of the flight to the suburbs and the area remained a working class area until the 1960s and 1970s.
