UK firms look to Turkey for growth
10th October 2011 |

The telegraph.co.uk reports that it's the first time in over ten years that a UK business secretary has visited Turkey, reflecting not only the UK's committment to doubling bilateral trade by 2015, but also Turkey's potential as a business hub in the region.

Growing interest in the countries largest city, Istanbul as a business destination has led to a 37 per cent rise in hotel rates as businessmen look to take advantage of its reach into the EU, the MIddle East and Central Asia.

Members of the UK delegation include Rolls Royce, BAE Sytems, GSK, Legal and General and Tesco Kipka.

Business Secretary Vince Cable said: "I am delighted to be visiting Turkey and bringing British companies with me. Turkey has an enviable record of economic growth over the last decade; reaching almost nine per cent last year.

"There are big opportunities for both British and Turkish firms to seize. The size and stature of the delegation accompanying me here signals the clear and growing importance of the Turkish market for British companies."

With the population of Istanbul due to quadrouple in 5 years there is huge demand for new properties and we have some excellent opportunities with brand new off plan developments to the west of the city.
