Looks like I've lucked out... You can only get the VAT back if you have a registered bulgarian company. It's easily done BUT the regulations are LOT lOT more stringent resulting in additional accounting costs. YOu have to file things monthly rather than annually and the fines are heavy. search for mountian paradise in google if you're interested in contacting the developer/rental management company. I have a profitable hold position so I'm good for the next three years (providing the tour operator does not go bust) in this time I don't expect prices to move but I do think we'll be closer to seeing a resale market and and my exit strategy more concrete. The runs will be longer, another gondola is going up, shopping malls & casino by the gondola etc - the airport is likely - who knows it's all speculation but i reckon it'll end OK

So what did you pay in total? How many meters? I bought using a company in another country. I do not know if I can get the VAT off in retrospect, but, must try. I have sent an e-mail to my developer describing how much better your situation is to mine, in an attempt to shame. I do not suppose it will get anywhere. At least they have a higher level to aspire to. Their level seems quite low at the moment.. It is amazing how much influence a developer has on you feelings about a country/purchase. Although my developer has finally built a nice building he has assisted very little in achieving the rental. It is difficult to move away from the developer. The developer has annoyed a lot of owners, so they do not want to use him. If you can not get the majority of owners on board you can not get tour operators. The tour operators give consistent rent. etc.etc.. I believe they call it a catch 22 :-) I am happy that someone is having a bit of luck over there. I do not have to worry about paying a mortgage on them, so I guess I am lucky also..
