I found Currency Solutions (PS recommended) better than Hifix, plus Hifix do not trade in Slovak Crowns.

Hi Johnny To be honest Currency Companies are all pretty much of muchness but I have found HIFX to have very competitive rates and provide a fast an efficient service. I have used them for about 4 years now and occasionally have tried other companies who either charge a surcharge or who aren't prepared to wait more than 2 days for money to be transerred from your bank so I would recommend HIFX without hesitation. It's a fairly simple process, all they require is a copy of your passport and a recent utility bill with your address to open an account. If you have a look at their website it's very clear and informative.

I have accounts with both HIFX and Moneycorp and without fail Moneycorp always provide better rates than HIFX.

Thank you to everyone who has replied, I have found out that MoneyCorp hold their own bank account with Barclays as I do and this will make it easier for me to tranfer funds to them instantaneously via online banking. I think it may be a factor for everyone to consider who the currency specialist bank with, as tranfers could be made free of charge and will be received as cleared funds if you hold an account with the same bank.

That is a good point Johnny, I agree with Pauline that Currency Houses are a bit of a muchness but they all want to keep your business so will often match anyone else's quotes if you deal with them regularly. I use FX Solutions who also use Barclays and they always match any other quote I can get - even the overseas banks who often give the best rates, they do not charge any transfer fee and wait as long as you want (within reason) for you to transfer the funds. They will work with you to get you the best deal too.
