Hi all
Just found this article on 'Slovak Spectator' which sounds good for Bratislava and employment for the area around the airport
"Global transport and logistics company DHL has moved part of its express road transportation outlet from Vienna's Schwechat Airport to Bratislava's M.R. Štefánik Airport, Kamila Mráziková of DHL Express (Slovakia) said on September 18.
Thus, the M.R. Štefánik Airport has become an international sorting junction (a so-called hub) for road consignments from designated central European countries. Truck consignments from Hungary, Croatia, Slovenia, part of Romania and Austria, as well as a large part of the Czech Republic, which in the past used to come to Vienna, where they were processed, will from now on come to Bratislava.
In connection with the strategic changes, the DHL has employed new people at its terminal at Bratislava Airport, and, at the same time, it has made current personnel capacities more effective. TASR"

Hi Guys: For your info.If you are planning on renting out your prop in Slovakia you MUST register with the Tax Office in Bratislava or you will be fined SKK200,00. This amended law that took place this month has changed and the conditions of the registration and notification of those who rent property. This is mainly those people who rent a flat,non-residential or other real est,not incl plots of land.Up until now if the prop was owned by a non-resident, (foreign investors) the tenant paid 19% tax of the rental fee, an automatic deduction from rental fee. From Jan 2007 there is no suchs requirement only to noin EU citizens whcih means that EU Landlords are now able to collect the full rent, make the nec. deduct. (apartment purch fees,value-increasing renovations, depreciation)and submit a tax return at the end of the year. An accountant will cost around 250 Euro. There is a tax break of 24,900 SKK per year which can be deducted from total annual rent, regardless of the number of props owned and rented. After Sept 2007 you must apply for registration within 60 days. Lynn
