That is very interesting!
Sectors that are active in Albania are: customer and technical support (growing number of Telephone Call Centers),construction, tourism and leisure.
For info: Central Tirana (prime) is now at Euro 1,000 a meter. Normal housing for Jo Public Euro 450!
Developers will and do sell off plan.

Durres is circa Euro 600 to 1,000.
Sarande (Im told is similar).
I know developers in both cities. You need to buy carefully in these areas, just due to the amount of development going on and the lack of urban planning etc.

Thanks Paul,
My main concerns with Albania (speaking as someone who hasn't been there yet) are title and planning consent.
I guess some concerm and the title issue would be diminished if it was possible to deal via bilingual solicitors either British or Albanian with offices in Albania and the UK.
Do you know of any solicitors who fit the bill? In addition do you have web addresses for the developers you know?
Regards,
R.

Title, Planning Consent and Registration in Land Registry, yes are all key issues. Lawyers, there is an Austrian and Italian lawyer here, offices in Rome and Vienna. No other european names.
Web Address for developers.......this is Albania, they dont have company webistes. :-) Sorry! :-)
Following these postings PS have contacted me and are considering an article on Albania , so I guess all these issues will be covered.

Thanks all for your comments. This is my first time to invest and i feel i have missed the boat with alot of Eastern Europe.I feel its not the aspect of whether to buy in Albania but the lack of information /and finding the right people to deal with.I know EU membership is a long way off but its on the road to reform and it has the coast and the weather!! Worth a small bet surely at this stage.I would look forward to further imput from PS in relation to planning/availability/legal process/ when it is posted.

Thanks for your insight into Albania Paul.I am very interested in Albania/Serbia/Montenegro, more on a personal level than as an investor. When do you think Montenegro will join the EU. Before Macedonia? I am not thinking of investing here at the moment as i am too inexperienced, but i am interested in how these countries are developing and when they will join the EU.
