Hi, My understanding is that Macedonia has already signed the Stability Pact with the EU. Basically this means they have started the EU Process. Whereas, Montenegro, due to its new found status as a "Country" has not! So it should follow that Macedonia will join first. Regarding Investment: Montenegro is already on the investors radar. With a lot of Irish and Russians buying along the coast, which is very very nice. I will try to upload a picture! Mortgages are a problem as the banking market is very small and not liquid, with no major banking players in the market. I know some other PS members have been looking in this location. My personal opinion is this location will be HOT! Limited supply, limited land = increase in prices...but bad finance! Macedonia: i have only visited the south of the country (Ochrid) which borders Albania. This is also an amazing location with a fantastic lake. Property Development seems to be zero! It does have an airport thou! The opposite side of the lake, in Albania, obviously shares the same scenery! Development is starting there and i know of a number of projects in the pipeline.

Thanks for the info and photos. Montenegro looks beautiful. I am planning drive down there in the Summer to have a good look around-though i have heard it´s very busy along the coast in high season. You are right,Macedonia is already on the candidate countries list for the EU-but i didn´t know how many "issues" it has to sort out before it will be considered.I read it may be 2012 or later when they join. Maybe Montenegro will have a speedier entry. My partners family live in Prizren in Kosovo, not far from Albania. They have no electricity for several hours a day and the situation is still not stable. Hopefully things will improve soon.
