Dear Property Secrets Team,
In your recent book on IHT the advice states that non-UK domiciled spouses are liable for IHT on everything except the first £55,000 of the estate. I have received information to the contrary from another adviser. He claims that this £55,000 is in addition to the £285,000 'nil rate band'.
Can you please advise?

I'm an IFA and have just worked on a case similar to your own. Yes, you are right..it is £55k in addition to the nil rate band
