Hi bfi

I think there are security issues switching between sites and remaining logged in. However, we could set it up so you only have to log in once to i-PT and a cookie keeps you logged in. If that's not in place already, I'll have a word with Peter.

On your other point, I'll make sure Peter reads your post and takes a look at your request.

Cheers

Hi,

Yes - I can see why that would be a good idea. The tricky bit is that it really ought to return to different places depending on where it came from.

For example, after putting in a payment against property X you either want to do another payment to property X (say, if you are catching up on a bunch of information you've had in a report from an agent), or you want to put another payment in against property Y (in which case you want to return directly to the list of outstanding payments).

We could solve this two ways:
1) make the page it returns to depend on the page you came from (which could be a bit tricky)
2) make it always return to re-enter another payment, but have clearly-labelled links to the rental arrears report, the property details page etc.

Option 1 would work quicker for entering lots of data, but might confuse people. Option 2 is safer, but requires that extra click. What do you think?

On the subject of going directly from PS to i-PT, once I've logged into each site it keeps me logged in so that whenever I go to either site I get straight in. It uses cookies to do this, so it might be that your cookies aren't enabled? It's certainly _meant_ to let you just log in once to each site and then return as many times as you like without having to log in again.

Best wishes

Hi,

for option 2, can you just have 2 clearly labelled buttons, to return to one page or the other? (there are not really any more than 2 options for pages to return to in this case are there?)

Thanks!

Hi there. I have decided to use i-Portfolio Tracker for my properties, and I am currently uploading all the existing details and transactions.

My first questions (of many I expect) are these.

You collect all of the outgoing expenses transactions under headings which are used by the Inland Revenue on the tax form. Is there a place where this information can be output either as a report or as an export to Excel?

Also - you can tag a transaction as either Tax allowable or not. What is the effect of this tag? Does it exclude the transaction from some reports or what?

Thanks.

Hi Mike

I'll get i-PT's developer to answer these questions for you if he hasn't already.

Cheers.

Hi bfi

Can you also make this request on the i-PT site using the "How can we improve this site?" tool on the right if you haven't already?

These go straight to Peter you see, as he may not be checking the PS Forum too regularly at the moment. I'll forward this to him as well of course.

Thanks a lot.

Ben, "how can we improve this site" suggestion -

I would like to repeat my (as yet unaswered) request of 28 June:

"The power of the PS format in Completion and ongoing property administration is clearly the collective nature of a group of investors with common goals. PS have squandered this in these markets. I, for one, have lost faith in the promises that it will get better.

In order to be positive, I would suggest that PS do the decent thing and make it easier for investors to manage the developments themselves, by enabling a free exchange of information within a closed group. I would be willing to pay a small fee for Ben to set up and administer a closed network of investors for each development PS have exited (which covers all those I have invested in but perhaps PS are more established in places like Poland where I didn’t invest?)

This could be on the basis of each owner (no outsiders) being asked whether they want to register (to cover data protection) and share email addresses etc. Investor’s interests would not always be aligned, but I think the positives would far outweigh the negatives. This could be up and running in a week."

Any answer this time?

David

HI David

I have already answered this question on another thread. I will, as I said, pass your suggestion on to Oliver Watts and am happy to look into something if he agrees to it.

Please don't spam the forum with this, I'll have to start deleting them. Thanks.

Ben

Thanks.

I raised a point under "areas to improve the website" and two under two different investments where the same issues of Visium lack of action arose where I considered the answer could be equally applicable for each investment.

I had not appreciated that where Visium have made similar mistakes on different investments a similar answer to each would be deemed 'spam' but now I know.
