Hello - I am going to rent out my main home for a while, and am getting very expensive buildings insurance quotes from the likes of Zurich. Does anyone know a good reputable source of well priced landlords insurance?

You should be able to get a quote at less than £1.70 per £1000 of property from many specialised landlord firms. If you find a quote at higher than that, keep looking. You can also get really good rates if you are a member of a landlord organisation. Most local landlord associations attract block insurance deals from well known brokers and insuerers. The insurance premium saving is often enough to offset the cost of membership, which means you get other membership benefits for free. Mail me at Landlord Clinic with where you operate in the UK, if you can't find a local group, and I'll get back to you.

Hi, I have used Simple Landlords Insurance for the past few years and because they are an online company they have less overheads, therefore you can get some great deals.
They have cover for just about anything. The reason I highly recommend this company is simply because when I actually had to make a claim they dealt with it swiftly and efficiently. Here's they're web address, hope this helps.

Hi there,
I live in South West of England in Cornwall and have used Cornish Mutual for my buy to let property insurance . Highly recommend them for those in the south west.

Here is their link: http: / /www .cornishmutual .co .uk /index .php /buy -to -let -property -insurance

Kind regards

Dezbroatch seems to love simple all over the internet . i suspect he is an employee of their search engine optimisation team!

After doing weeks of research and endless online quotes and phone calls i found that their excess was too high and their cover lacked elements that i needed. i got a rate of just under £1 per thousand (although i do have 30 properties) from these guys: http: / /www .discountlandlord .co .uk and they were based in london so i popped into visit them and had a cup of tea - online broker but with a face so this made me feel good.

i would recomend. simple seemed like a bit of a faceless call centre

have you tried this policy

http: / /www .landlordsquote .co .uk /landingpages /propertyhawk /property -owners -portfolio -insurance .aspx

It promises to save at least 5% on any similar product as long as you have 15 or more properties and a portfolio of £2m so I presume you will qualify. It would be interesting to see how you get on.
