Thanks anyway.
The reason I asked is I'm aware of an investor who's being forced to sell out of his whole portfolio of newbuilds / recent builds, including a number in Leeds city centre.
Whilst I'm not usually interested in UK property outside of London when they're potentially offered at 75% of current market value it becomes interesting.
Generally in the Uk I'll stay with London long term.

At the moment, I would be wary about paying a large premium to secure a property in a good schools catchment area. Serious consideration is currently being given to changing the basis on which schools select children, away from proximity (and presumably with it the local price premium).

area etcs?... rental yield V Mortgage payments etc?..

That does of course depend how seriously you take the rantings of right-wing think tanks lol!
As a product of the comprehensive system I am quite baffled at where these people get their ideas on education from. Watching too much Grange Hill maybe?
