The political turmoil in the left of centre SPD is paving the way for the right of centre party of Merkel to clean up.

Germany does have a choice - put labour interest first - or those of the economy.

Merkel is most likely to deliver the latter - so perhaps this is why Germany business confidence is strong?

And, again, why Germany may yet prove to be both a safehaven but also a key driver for the continuing to expand export markets of central Europe?
