I am a UK citizen and need to file a Polish Tax Return this year. Has anyone else done this? If so where did you get the forms, tax advice etc?

Mair, Polish tax is a bit of a nightmare administratively and cost-wise. It's necessary to submit a monthly tax return if you have bought as an individual. Even worse if there are joint owners then a tax return has to be made for each person.

The only usual exception is that it's possible to submit a form allowing 1 tax return to be submitted for a married couple. I've got a problem currently in that iPA and Rednet managed not to send the forms to their partner GDF so I'm currently paying twice as many fees as I would have been and so is my business partner with whom I bought the apartments.

Having said that, I've now found competent partners in Poland with whom to work so apart from trying to reclaim the extra I'm spending from iPA it's easier administratively. Unfortunately I can't post the details as it's against forum rules - what I would say is avoid iPA, Rednet and GDF.

Hi ... I am British and a single owner of an apartment in Poland which is currently let. I know am required to pay tax on the rental income ...which I do ...by direct transfer to the appropriate tax office every month, after I receive the rent.

I was not aware that a monthly tax return was necessary. (By 'tax return' I presume you mean a paper form submitted to the tax office ?)

I am also aware that many investors pay significant fees to have their tax returns administered for them.

Maybe I have misunderstood the proceedure but one simple bank transfer a month to the tax authorities is all I am currently doing?

I would appreciate any comments or further information peopl may have in this regard.

Michael

Hi Loom

I'm paying at the moment for the monthly admin - to date I haven't had to pay tax so presumably the authorities need to see something to justify why this is the case.

Hi ,

I am currently using a company that are based in Ireland and specialise in property tax on overseas properties,....they speak english and are very efficient.

The company is called Property Tax International....look them up on the web (ptireturns).

I have lived in Poland for the last few years and I find these guys better than my own polish accountant.

Regards
