I went to a meeting with MRI on sunday in Glasgow and got told that there was no way I could get my deposit back .

They said the only way was to transfer to a MRI contruction built site and I was offered Aspen Golf in Bulgaria - they said I could transfer to this for a further £6,000 euros and this was to cover taxes and other legal costs - has anyone else been offered similar - they also said that I could flip the property if I asked the developer to get a survey carried out by a Romanian bank for around 200 euros and if the value came significantly under what we paid then we could maybe get our money back

any thoughts on this would be helpful

Hiya

I was also offered Aspen Golf in ecchange for my 30% deposit. I think the sale price offered was around the 60,000 EURO mark for a studio.

There was no talk of any transfer costs though

Considering the state of the bulgarian market (ie. how much prices have fallen) I didnt entertain it as Ive lost enough already inc a further amount oif £££ on trying to get a mortgage in Greenfields!

Im currently going to meet MRI in Belfast this month , and am assured it will be a constructive meeting , What developments are they offering ? and at what price? something tells me its is not 30000 euro cheaper , if i pretended to be joe normal and equired about buying one of these properties before this meeting i would probably be offered the same price as i will be with my supposed 30000 discount.

Whats also interesting is that MRI are now just a construction company and that they are no longer an estate agent, so shut the doors and leave everyone high and dry. It seems they have just opened under a new name called DCC international, which very smartly have MRI developments on their books but these seem to be the only ones which have P.O.A .

Please if anyone has been offered anything can you tell me development name and at what price?

Daryl

The meeting I had in GLasgow wasnt very contructive and they offered me aspen golf (I think we were being offered a resale property) which I belive is an MRI construction and think you are right in saying that they only deal with their own construction now and dont sell for anyone -

good luck with your meeting - just hope you get better outcome than me

As a romanian national/resident I couldn't agree with you more. The market is great for "bottm-fishers" but only if you have cash. Also, if you can get a mortgage in UK for your romanian property do it, because both romanian banks and evaluators will eat you alive (unless you take entire developments off their badly burned hands :). Keep yer cheen up.

Hi Gary,

I am in the same boat as the rest of you on this forum, being that I have sunk money into Onix.

I remain positive that there is a solution to this mess and was planning a visit in the near future to determine whether:
- The standard of contstruction is up to scratch
- There are any units rented out yet
- There is any point in going ahead with the purchases if we are paying well above market rate for the properties.

I will be fascinated to hear what you have learned during your trip (and whether it is worth me taking the time to visit), so please do let us know.

Thanks!

Hi

My contact was over but I didnt waste his time by looking at it as I thought there is no point going through with the whole thing.

Despite this, my contract isnt quite terminated yet so I would also be interested if Gary has discovered anything more about the development.

cheers
