Has anyone used an independent lawyer and managed to get their deposit back? I can't get a mortgage for my appartment in the Blue development and have been told by a lawyer that he can get my deposit back, but i must pay his fees up front.

I think that is what I am going to do. Losing 800-1000 euro more if the lawyer is not good seems ok, against the perspective of getting back a over 10000 back from the deposit.
It is a pity we cnanot contact directly because maybe we could exchange info about lawyer and try to get a better deal from him.

My lawyer is charging 2450 Euros to get back my deposit of 28,5000 Euros. If he is successful i think it is worth it but i want to know if anyone has been successful in getting their money back, if not then i just stand to lose even more money!!

I would be much interested in trying to recoup my deposit. Unfortunately we used the lawyers recommended by the agent selling Greenfields.

Does anyone know of reputable lawyers who will really put the effort in to retreiving these deposits? Or, as you have already asked, has anyone managed to successfully get back their deposit?

I think you need a different lawyer than the one u used to buy the property. THose conveyance lawyers were good and reiable because they knew well the development, but I think to get the money back you need a romanian lawyer ready to negotaiate and lititgate. They are charging me 1000EUR plus a success fee. I am trying to negotiate it down.

Yes i have a different lawyer who is not affiliated with the agent or the developer, but i wonder why i am being quoted a much higher fee than you. Also he is urging me to act quickly and be one of the first to claim my deposit back as he said it would be easier. I just couldn't bear to be ripped off again as i have already had so much stress and sleepless nights because of this whole thing.

Hi Addventures,

I have also invested in Roumania / Bucharest - Platinum 2 and would be also keen to cancel and get my deposit back if possible??
On which basis the lawer can be successful on claiming or differently formulate what could be the "valid" reasons which could give the right to claim the deposit back ?

Thanks for any views /experience on this.
Regards
Chris

Chrism,

What is wrong with Platinum 2, or is it the mortgage availability problem.

Did you buy through PS ?

Hi Mike A,
Nothing wrong (so far) with the development itself ....BUT the mortgage side is a nightmare.
Hope it will get better in the early month of 2009 . It would be however reassuring to know there is always the possibility with a good lawer to recover the deposit in case of no avalibility of a mortgage. Any ideas?

Regards, Chrism
