Can anyone comment / confirm or add to my understanding of a landlords income tax liability on rental income in Poland?
I have recently bought and am now letting a flat in Poland. I am required to pay income tax on the rental income. As I understand it you cannot offset mortgage interest aginst rental income for income tax purposes as in the UK. Therefore I am required in Poland to pay a lower taxation rate of 8% on rental income up to annual threshold of approx 16,000 PLN ...then 19% on income thereafter. In addition a tax return must be submitted monthly to the local tax office.
Does anyone know if this is correct? If so, can I offset any costs incurred on the property against this (such as furniture bought, utility bills, flights, etc).
Is it possible to claim the tax back (in the UK) against interest paid on mortgages in the UK?
Does anyone else who is not resident in Poland submit monthly income tax returns? If so ..how do you do it?..i.e online or through an accountant??
Thanks

This is an important point being raised and I'msurprised that it wasn't touched on in the Polish reports.
Any of you guys who are already receiving Polish rent care to comment?

Afraid I don't have the answer to your question, but on a similar topic I note within the Galeria Park interview with Robert Chojnacki reference is made to flipping. Is Robert or PS able to advice the tax implications if this was successful ?

Mike raises a good point. I also have a flat in wroclaw and am receiving rent and paying the tax. However, my agent has recently discovered that the tenant is, ahem, 'a lady of the night'. Given that my flat is now technicaly running as a business, can i offset my income tax against the costs of running such a business? There are many overheads.....

Seems to me as if you guys have lots of questions but that no one has any answers (yet)! How can this be? Surely the problems described by you must be problems that everybody in investing in Poland has or is everybody just flipping??
