Richard, not sure your theory on gold is right either right now. I seem to remember you tipping to go over $1,000 and if it hasn't got there in recent weeks it seems unlikely it will. In fact the FT is today saying demand for gold is weak and the price is way down at $727.

You can't seem to be objective about Hungary - all our previous debates were about the attractions of Hungary relative to Poland, Czech and Slovakia in particular. I don't think there's any doubt which has been and which will continue to be for the forseeable future the best places to be invested or to invest in.

As for predicting the credit crunch, a bit of "credit" is due but I think it's a question of being right for the wrong reasons!

Gold did go over $1000 up to about $1050 and it will again when the dollar falls (originally going to say dollar collapse - but ive been accused of being a scare monger recently) once the world stops liquidating assets into dollars, this most likely early next year Jan / Feb.

Gold hit an all time high two weeks ago in sterling up to £530 an oz.

It will probably be the best time to buy in the US in decades, if you have managed to keep your savings in gold that is :D

Im certainly no sheep in my investment strategy - Gold is the only currency WITH intrinsic value (it is what I believe and is completely the opposite of what one recent PS article says).

As for myself, I will purchase in the UK next year after liquidating my Gold into £ and if I can find the finance I will purchase in US and perhaps somewhere like Estonia (40% fall in property prices in Estonia during last 2 months according to the todays Telegraph).

After all, what do companies do when they are trying to streamline their business? Cut back on staff and make other efficiency savings?

Ive not looked at it in great detail - the relationship between IT spending during recessionary periods. It will be interesting to look at to determine the best time to invest in Estonia.

I am open to other suggestions of course - it is why I linger here, the sharing of knowledge and ideas.

Does anyone know about IT investment cycles?
