Hi
There has been some talk on the forum lately about investing in Ukraine.
I live in Moscow so am going to head that way soon, to have a nose around.
In the meantime, I wondered if anyone had done any research or known anything about the market?
Best
Dan

I raise a question as to which "new" markets PS might be looking at on another thread. Ukraine, Panama, Albania, West Indies, etc. Lots of possibilities. I think it would be interesting to see which areas PS members and forum contributors would like PS to investigate.

We're looking at new markets all the time and would be very interested in knowing which ones our members our keen on.
We're always taking pointers from this forum too.
Of course, it costs money to properly research and and analyse a new market, so we have to pick and choose those we feel are worthwhile.
And if a significant number of our members are ACTUALLY interested in investing in a market, then we'll focus our attention on it and see if we can find you some opportunities that will get you the best return on investment.
Just like we're doing now with Romania, for example. So by all means - let us know!

Hi, I've just been looking through the PS Ukraine property market profile, and I wondered whether anyone was aware of any recent developments in this market. I think the report is getting on for a year old, and it talks of the possibility of an imminent bursting of the speculative bubble. Did that come to pass? It seems like a market that is very definitely worth keeping an eye on.

Hi Minsk, A few weeks back when PS were asking us to tell them what we wanted from them, I asked for the very same update and so I would also be grateful for an indication of when we can expect it. I was in Kiev about 5-6 weeks ago, on business but took the opportunity to talk to a few people about the propoerty market. All the agents I spoke to said that in Kiev prices had soured in the last 3 years and that in the last 6 months they had seen a definate levelling off in demand and throughput. They seemed confident that prices would increase by around 10% ove the next year but I got the impression that this was more wishful thinking than based on any facts. A Ukrainian colleague of mine bought a newish apartment 3 years ago in a nice area and very big. He paid 70k USD and spent around 30K USD on refurbishment to a high standard. Its just been valued at 450-500K USD. Taxes in Ukraine seem quite favourable for foreign investors but the levels of corruption are scary even by Eastern European standards. Most agents were recommending land as an investment as they are seeing continued demand and anticipate 20% growth in value. Taking the drive between Kiev city and Borispol airport the horizon is awash with new build apartments....its not suprising that prices are levelling off. Maybe Kiev is the one that got away, but I would still like the PS perspective on this.
