Hi, I'm a newby to this site, and also not an experienced property investor. Currently I have 2 flats in Moscow from way back; planning to sell at least one as prices have gone bonkers there. I'd like to invest proceeds and some other spare cash in something else in Europe. But where?I am German speaking with a relative in Germany, so that might be good, especially as seems incredibly cheap. Might buy appartment block - where to go for good yield/potential long-term appreciation? As I live in UK, would have to be managed for me - any experiences/advice?Switzerland/Austria also poss. Also I have good contacts in Riga (Latvia) and (Bulgaria) who could help me out there if I wanted to Buy. At moment I'm very open minded - so all suggestions welcomed!Any tips on financing appreciated as well.

Im not a pro but have been reading steadily through all the e books on the site. It might be wroth considering remortgaging your russian properties if it is a good rate keep them rented out and use that money to invest.

A.,
If you're UK resident you'll have to pay Capital Gains Tax when you sell your Russian flats. If you remortgage, I don't belive CGT is payable.
You get money either way, although if you remortgage you're putting off the CGT bill to later years ....

Who to go to to remortgage properties in Moscow?
In any case, they're currently owned by in-laws, who would transfer them to the wife, who'd sell immediately. hence no cgt. Not sure on whether liable for any tax on gift.
Also Moscow looking VERY expensive ... possibly time to take some profits.
