Bulgarian cities rated by panel
28 October 2008
The Bulgarian city of Varna has been voted as the best city in which to live for the second year in succession.
Darik Radio and 24 Chassa asked journalists from both outlets to rate towns and cities across the country in order to gauge their relative appeal, the Sofia Echo reports.
The panel were asked to take a number of issues into account when making their selections, such as the physical beauty of these places and their potential as possible investment markets.
While Varna came on top overall, Sofia was rate very highly in the latter category, a development which has not surprised city mayor Boiko Borissov.
He commented: "More than 70 per cent of all investments in the country are in Sofia."
However, he said it would be good for Bulgaria as a whole if investment is distributed more evenly to other parts of the country.
The findings may prove to be influential to property investors who are thinking of entering the market.
Quest Bulgaria magazine recently praised the eastern European country for offering attractions such as affordable living costs and good weather.
