Businesses in the Czech Republic are expected to reap various rewards from the country's forthcoming presidency of the EU.
The eastern European nation will assume the role in January 2009, five years after it became a member of the international body.
According to the Czech Economic Chamber, this is likely to have a number of positive effects on the country and its business sector in particular.
Petr Kuzel, president of the organisation, stated that the EU presidency will strengthen the image of the Czech Republic as an advanced and economically stable market.
Speaking to the Prague Daily Monitor, he said this would help benefit the business environment in the country.
Mr Kuzel commented: "The presidency will also undoubtedly be reflected in investors' greater confidence in the Czech Republic and will bring new trade contracts to many businesses."
The Czech Republic will hold the EU presidency for the first half of 2009.
