Poland to avoid annualised recession - World Bank
30 June 2009

Despite a severe slide of GDP growth rates from 4.8% in 2008 to just 0.5% and 0.9% in 2009 and 2010, Poland will avoid recession if the we measure the GDP figures on an annual scale.

This remarkable achievement shows both the strength and depth of the Polish economy and contrasts with some of its racier neigbours who are expected to post a stronger 2011 GDP growth to Poland's forecast 3.5%.

Nevertheless, 3.5% GDP growth is still going to be near the top of the world growth league for medium to large countries.
