Unemployment in the EU increased to 8.9% in June

The latest data released by Eurostat (the Statistical Office of the European Communities) show that the unemployment in the euro area was 9.4% in June compare to 9.3% in May.

In the EU-27 unemployment increased from 8.8% in May to 8.9% in June.

Among the Member States, the lowest unemployment rates were recorded in the Netherlands (3.3) and Austria (4.4%), and the highest rates in Spain (18.1%), Latvia (17.2%) and Estonia (17.0%).
